Showtimes: 9am, 10:15am, 11:30am, 12:45pm, & 2pm

Doors open one hour prior to show time. Early entry NOT permitted. Everyone in your party must purchase an event ticket in advance for entrance.

Museum CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC November 14 - 20 and November 23 - 27.

 

TICKETS & QUESTIONS 

The following is some very important information you should have for your family to make your holiday outing the most memorable!


Q. How do I get tickets?

A. Tickets go on-sale via Ticketweb on Tuesday, September 5. Please check back on that date to purchase your tickets on-line. You may also call Ticketweb directly at 1-800-468-7630 on September 5 to purchase tickets.


Q. What if all the Show Times to THE POLAR EXPRESS™ are SOLD OUT?

A. Tickets are limited for this event. Tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis. If all show times are SOLD OUT, please note that NO on-site ADMISSION will be available for purchase at this event. Everyone in your party, ages 2 and up, will need to present an event ticket or ticket confirmation for admittance into the event. ADVANCE PURCHASE REQUIRED. The B&O Railroad Museum is CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC for set up and during this event, November 14-20, 23-27. Only THE POLAR EXPRESS™ ticket holders are permitted entrance, November 17-19, 24-26.


Q. I have THE POLAR EXPRESS™ tickets. What do I do now?

A. Please note or follow these steps:

  • 1) Arrive ONE HOUR prior to the show time printed on your ticket. Early entry not permitted.
  • 2) Everyone will need to present a THE POLAR EXPRESS™ ticket upon arrival to the B&O Railroad Museum entrance and at THE POLAR EXPRESS™ train boarding platform. Children under age 2 are required to sit on a guardian’s lap. Please make sure every member in your party has a ticket in hand before arriving at the museum.
  • 3) Since THE POLAR EXPRESS event is a sell out event, the B&O will NOT offer on-site admission that day.
  • 4) If you are late or miss your show time and train ride, please note that staff cannot guarantee you another train ride.

  • Q. Where do I park? Is there Handicap Parking?

A. The B&O Railroad Museum offers free & secure parking. For THE POLAR EXPRESS™ event please report to the Tour Bus Parking lot located at 1100 James St. Baltimore MD - CLICK HERE for Directions & Parking. If this lot is full then you will be directed to additional parking at 901 W. Pratt St. Baltimore, MD.  Please DO NOT DROP OFF members of your party. It is best to park your vehicle(s) with your entire party and enter the B&O Railroad Museum North Car Shop at one time with your family or group. In addition to there being ample handicap parking spots, the B&O Railroad Museum is ADA compliant and handicap accessible.


Q. I am a B&O Member. Can I visit the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore during THE POLAR EXPRESS™ event?

A. THE POLAR EXPRESS™ is a hosted event of the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore. Your B&O Membership does not allow you free admittance during this event. Please note that the B&O Railroad Museum is CLOSED to the public for set up and the event November 14-20 and November 23 - 27. CLICK HERE to purchase tickets to THE POLAR EXPRESS™.


Q. This is our first POLAR EXPRESS™ adventure. What should we expect?

A. Characters from this award-winning book come to life through this magical holiday journey. The conductor punches your golden ticket as you board THE POLAR EXPRESS™, Chefs serve you hot chocolate and cookies, and on board the train, you will listen to THE POLAR EXPRESS™ story and Santa will give each child the first gift of Christmas - the silver sleigh bell. After your train ride you will enter "The North Pole" where you will enjoy festive decorations and family activities.


Q. Why should my children dress in their pajamas?
A. In the story, all the children taking this magical train ride are awakened from their beds on Christmas Eve. Join the fun by bringing your children in their pajamas. Adults are also welcome to join in the fun.

 
Q. If I haven’t read the book or seen the movie will I still have a good time?
A. Yes, you can read along or just listen as we read the story book on our train ride to the North Pole. But if you have read the book or seen the movie you should feel like you’ve just stepped off the pages…as we recreate the story with your child as part of the cast.
 

Q. Where can I buy a copy of the movie or story book in advance?
A. Beginning November 1 please visit here or call the B&O Museum Store at 410-752-2462 x 213 to order a copy of the book or movie in advance. Santa autographed copies of the book will be available for purchase on-site at the B&O Railroad Museum during THE POLAR EXPRESS™.
 

Q. How long is the train ride?
A. The Polar Express experience is about 2 hours including your 25 minute train ride and your final destination to "The North Pole".
 

Q. Will I get to meet the conductor of the train?
A. Yes, he will call “ALL ABOARD” when the train is ready to leave the train platform. There will be other storybook characters on board the train as well, so you won’t want to miss this exciting train trip.
 

Q. Will my child get to meet Santa personally?
A. Yes, Santa will personally give each child the first gift Christmas – a silver sleigh bell on board THE POLAR EXPRESS TRAIN RIDE.  

Q. Will there be other things to do at the train station?
A. Yes, after the train ride you enter "The North Pole", where you enjoy all the wonderful holiday activities and exhibits of the B&O Railroad Museum Roundhouse.
 

Q. What else should we know?

A. Please note the following:

 

Food Concessions -The B&O Railroad Museum will offer food concessions at Trax Side Snax located on the Museum’s campus. Please note that picnicking is not permitted for this event. Members of your party with strict food allergies are permitted entrance with a small lunch bag.


Strollers -The B&O has designated stroller parking. Please note that strollers are NOT PERMITTED on the train platform, on the train, or inside the Gift Shop.


Photos -
Professional photos will be available at “The North Pole” to capture a holiday memory of your POLAR EXPRESS journey. No purchase is necessary to visit but 5x7 prints will be available at a cost of $10 for the first print and $5 for any additional prints. Digital images by email will also be available for anyone wanting to make their own prints or holiday cards. For more information contact Joe Ellis Photography. You may take your own photos too. Please be respectful of others so everyone has a chance to capture a THE POLAR EXPRESS™ memory.

Event Reminders:

• Event is RAIN or SHINE. In the event of hazardous inclement weather, please refer to our main web page www.borail.org or call 410-752-2490. Please remember to dress yourself and your family appropriately. Baltimore weather is unpredictable this time of year so dressing in layers, rain gear, and sunscreen is recommended.

• Please remember that this is a family event. Smoking, cursing, or any inappropriate behavior is prohibited. Security has the right to remove anyone from the premises without refund.
