Day Out With Thomas is Back!

Thomas the Tank Engine is rolling into town with the Party Train Tour. Hop on board for a real train ride with Thomas and grab your party pass to pick up favors at stops along the way. Say hello to Sir Topham Hatt, stop in the party corner for lawn game fun, have a blast in the bubble zone & check out the pop up gift shop for exclusive Thomas swag!
Mile One Express Train Rides

Sundays: 1 PM
Take a springtime train ride along the nation’s first mile of commercial railroad. Train ride tickets can be purchased on-site here at the Museum.

The B&O’s award winning Toddler Time program celebrate the excitement of learning through reading and various sensory exploration activities. On Thursday, Apr. 15, Toddler Time goes on a special field trip by train to the First Mile Stable, where participants will meet the horses and officers of the Baltimore Police Mounted Unit, and enjoy a story time followed by a song & dance. Easter Bunny Egg Hunts & Train Rides
Friday, April 2 (Sensory Friendly) & Saturday, April 3, 9 – 10:30 AM
Join us for an egg hunt with the Easter Bunny in the B&O’s spacious Roundhouse, followed by a train ride on the Mile One Express! Our Sensory Friendly Easter Egg Hunt on Fri, Apr. 2 will offer a more accessible experience for visitors with sensory processing differences, including modified lights & sounds, sensory kits available, and more staff on-hand.

We’re open Easter Sunday! After you’ve enjoyed your holiday festivities, head over to the B&O to visit with the Easter Bunny in our spacious Roundhouse, take a pleasant afternoon train ride at 1 PM, and explore the birthplace of American railroading!
Turntable Demonstration

As part of the Spring Break STEAM Series, we’re holding a turntable demonstration! See the Museum’s massive Roundhouse turntable in action as a locomotive or rail car is rotated by the power of just one person. Included with admission.
Four County Society of Model Engineers – Model Railroad Layout
April 9 – April 18
The renowned Four County Society of Model Engineers brings their award-winning HO Scale modular model railroad layout to the B&O Railroad Museum, where it will remain on-display to the public until Apr. 18!
Extended Museum Hours & Evening Train Ride
Saturday, April 10, 10 AM – 8 PM
The Museum is offering extended hours on Sat, Apr. 10! After a full day exploring the birthplace of American railroading, climb aboard the Mile One Express for a 6 PM evening train ride along the nation’s first mile of commercial railroad.
The War Came by Train: Civil War Tour

Mon, Apr. 12 marks the 160th anniversary of the start of the Civil War. In honor of this historic date, take our The War Came by Train: Civil War Tour, to learn about the role on trains in the Civil War – the first conflict in history in which trains were used in warfare.

Visit the birthplace of American railroading on a budget! On Wed, Apr. 21, all visitors will receive Museum admission for just $10 per person.
Fueling America’s Railroads Junior Tour
April 22 at 3 PM & April 26 at 11 AM
Kids can take our Fueling America’s Railroads tour to learn about the history and environmental impacts of different types of fuel on the railroad.
