All Aboard Summer Reading Program, “I’ve Been Readin’ on the Railroad”

A magical experience that will take you on a trip and teach you new things about people and places! Participate in the “I've Been Readin' on the Railroad” Summer Reading Program at the B & O Railroad Museum and the Ellicott City Station and earn a free book and a chance to win an engineer's outfit. It's easy and the trip down the tracks will be fun. Let the magic of reading and the railroad take you on a special journey. Pick up a reading journal at the B & O Railroad Museum or the Ellicott City Station, browse the children's railroad books and begin your journey! Read 10 railroad-related books, complete your journal and return it to either Museum by August 21, 2016 for your free book and a chance to win an engineer's outfit!
13 Miles to Ellicott's Mills

The model train layout in the Freight House depicts the first 13 miles of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad, from Baltimore to Ellicott's Mills. This layout has been updated to show places of interest and location of Union Army camps during the Civil War. During this tour, a guide will point out these locations and talk about the importance of keeping the railroad operating during the American Civil War.

Blue Star Museums is a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and more than 1,500 museums across America. The B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore, Ellicott City Station, Mount Clare Museum House are proud to partner with Blue Star Museums and offer active military personnel and up to five family members free admission to the museum from Wednesday, June 1 - Sunday, September 4, 2016. The Geneva Convention common access card (CAC) a DD Form 1173 ID card, or a DD Form 1173-1 ID card are required to receive free admittance.
