ALL ABOARD BIRTHDAY PARTIES!

Host your family birthday party at the Historic B&O Railroad Museum in the 1,200 sq. ft. Multi-Purpose Room, located in the backyard adjacent to the Roundhouse & Picnic Grove, right next to our Family Activity Area. It’s a perfect party location for all ages!


Birthday Party Package includes:

  • Multi-Purpose Room Rental from 10 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Tables and Chairs
  • Admission and access to the Museum campus for 30 guests
  • B&O Birthday Party Coordinator
  • Train Ride (Train rides are offered Tuesday through Sunday, April through October. The Museum has the right to cancel train rides due to inclement weather or equipment malfunction without notice.)


Rental & Deposit Information:

  • Rentals accepted mid-January through mid-October only. Train rides (if available) offered Tuesdays – Sundays, April through October.
  • Member price: $550.00
  • Non-Member price: $650.00
  • Additional $5.00 per person for groups of more than 30 guests, maximum total guests 60.
  • Save money by purchasing a family membership, good for one year of free admission to the B&O, along with other exclusive benefits.
  • A non-refundable payment of $250.00 is required to secure the date. The balance is due 7 business days prior to your party.

  • How do I reserve a birthday party?
    You can call 410-752-2490 or email birthdayparty@borail.org with your preferred date and time. A non-refundable payment of $250.00 is required to secure the date. The balance is due 7 business days prior to your party.
     
  • How many hours have I rented the Multi-Purpose Room for my party?
    10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. You may start your party after 10 A.M. but the room must be vacated 3:00 P.M.
     
  • How many guests may I have attending the party?
    The price includes 30 guests. The cost is $5.00 per person over 30, maximum number of guests is 60. This includes ALL children and adults.
     
  • Are there train rides daily available during my party time?
    Train rides are available from April 1st until mid-October. At time of reservation, we will coordinate a train ride time for your group. There is a minimum of (3) train rides per day on the weekends. The group may not be in the same train car; however, we will do our best to fit the group on one timed ride. We cannot guarantee train rides due to malfunctions or track conditions the day of your party.
     
  • May I bring my own food and drink?
    No, we have exclusive contracts with American Food Services, Inc. 443-250-9203, Atlantic Caterers 410-254-6662, www.atlanticcaterers.com and The Classic Catering People 410-356-1666, www.classiccatering.com. You will need to call the caterer of your choice to order food and drinks for your party. Pricing varies with a box lunch drop offs or you may wish to hire server staff to help you with the food service. Your caterer will supply your paper products for eating and paper tablecloths. The B&O will supply 8 ft. banquet tables and Rubbermaid chairs for your guests. Each table can fit up to (8) children or (6) adults per table.
     
  • What about a birthday cake and decorations?
    You may bring your own specialty birthday cake and decorations. NO ice cream cakes, helium balloons, or confetti of any kind. Should you prepare goody bags, we kindly ask that you give goody bags out at the end of your party. We do not allow any food or beverages in any other areas of the Museum.
     
  • Where do I come to set up my party?
    We have a back entrance area located off Schroeder & Pratt Streets. A party coordinator will meet you at a pre-designated time at the Schroeder Street gate and show you where to park and unload next to the Multi-Purpose room. We have several trash cans located throughout the room for your clean up convenience. We will charge a clean up fee and damage fee of $75.00 should the room be left in an unacceptable manner.
     
  • Where do the guests arrive?
    Your guests should arrive at the front admission area located off Pratt and S. Poppleton Streets. Your guests will be greeted by the party coordinator, given admission stickers and escorted to the Multi-Purpose Room.
     
  • Where do I arrive/can I unload my birthday party items?
    The host will arrive at the Schroeder Street entrance where the party coordinator will open the gate to let you in the back lot for easy set up. For detailed directions, please see below:

    Service Entrance Directions to Schroeder Street from the Pratt & Poppleton/ Railroad Way Front Gate

    • Pratt & Poppleton Street/ Railroad Way is the main entrance to the museum; Schroeder Street is the service entrance for loading and unloading of events in the Roundhouse or Multi-Purpose Room.
       
    • Follow Lombard Street West to Schroeder Street, which is the next traffic light.
       
    • Make a left on to SCHROEDER STREET.
       
    • The Service gate is located on the corner of Schroeder Street and Pratt Street. Please check the gate and proceed through the gate to your left to unload. An Event Manager should be directing you to your unloading area.
