First Responders Day at the B&O honors those who answer the call and aims to educate the public about their lifesaving practices! Come see firsthand the methods and technology used by the first responders who are there when we need them the most. Oh, and did we mention the controlled collision between a train and a car? For educational purposes, of course. Access to event included with regular museum admission.

 

Event Schedule:

10:00am — Museum opens

10:15am — Fire safety demonstration

10:30am — Spotlight on CSX "Spirit of Our Law Enforcement" locomotive

10:45am — Begin boarding for train ride to collision site

11:00am — Train Ride to train & car collision and extraction demonstration by Baltimore City Fire Dept. Squad 26 ($3 adults, $2 children)

12:15pm — Remembrance ceremony in Roundhouse

12:30pm — MTA Police Drone demonstration

12:45pm — Begin boarding for train ride to collision site

1:00pm — Train Ride to train & car collision and extraction demonstration by Baltimore City Fire Dept. Squad 26 ($3 adults, $2 children)

1:30pm — Fire safety demonstration

2:15pm — Spotlight on CSX "Spirit of Our Law Enforcement" locomotive

2:30pm — Bomb squad demo

3:00pm — Fire extinguisher demo

*Please Note: For safety and comfort, it is highly recommended that guests wear closed-toed shoes to the site of the collision. Handicap access for offboarding at the site of collision is limited, however the option to view the collision from the train car will be available for guests who are non-ambulatory.
