The flour barrel cars were some of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad's first freight cars. These all-purpose four-wheeler gondolas were built around 1832 and were capable of carrying all types of freight, especially milled flour. They ran on friction wheels and were able to carry 26 barrels. The B&O became the link that connected growers, millers, and city markets. In 1927, the B&O created two working replicas of these gondolas for the Fair of the Iron Horse. Gondola A was rebuilt with its original tongue and groove floor.
