Dear Friends,
Welcome to The Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum! This National Historic Landmark holds the oldest, most historic and comprehensive American railroad collection in the World, in a unique complex of historic structures, all on a 40-acre historic site universally recognized as the birthplace of American railroading. Of course, it is our hope that you will visit time and time again-and become a part of our family of members that now numbers more than 15,000 people.
Hours of enjoyment and fun await your visit! Seasonal train rides along the first railroad right of way in the Western Hemisphere, engaging exhibits of rare artifacts, powerful steam and diesel locomotives, soaring buildings, outdoor and indoor model train layouts, public programs family-friendly activities and even a cafe are all a part of the visitor's experience here. The Museum’s vision is to …preserve the physical legacy and experience of American railroading. And an experience, up close and personal, is what we promise!
I invite you to explore the Museum and all that we have to offer through our website. Many special events are planned for the coming year that you won't want to miss. For unique gifts, our Museum Store is available 24/7 on-line as are membership materials and volunteer opportunities. Don’t just plan a visit for an hour, plan on spending the best part of the day with us. Also, located a short 10-mile drive away is the 1831 Ellicott City Station, the oldest railroad station in America. Here changing exhibits, a living history program and a magnificent HO scale model train layout tell the story of early railroading in America.
Thanks for visiting our website but don’t stop here, make plans to visit both of our sites today!
Warm regards,
Courtney B. Wilson
