Dear Friends of the B&O Railroad Museum:
Of the 23 wooden replica locomotives, known as the "Pangborn Collection," 14 were displayed in the Roundhouse at the time of the collapse and nine suffered severe damage. These one of a kind exhibit models came about due to the creative genius of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad's first Public Relations Director, Joseph G. Pangborn. They first appeared in the 1893 Chicago World's Fair, also known as the Columbian Exposition. The remaining nine models (not in the Roundhouse at the time of the collapse) are on loan or in storage.
In addition, the Museum's Curatorial Department has begun surgically removing rubble and artifacts from the interior of the No. 20 passenger coach and No. 10 baggage car. Images of their work will be available in the near future.
Thank you for your continued support as The B&O Railroad Museum remains closed until further notice.
