Dear Friends of the B&O Railroad Museum:
The construction team has made significant progress with the Roundhouse roof in the last few weeks. Of the eleven bays that fell in the collapse, all but one has been rebuilt with new trusses, wood decking, felt paper, and slate. Take a close look at image 12 in the slideshow to see the slight contrast in color between the felt paper and slate.
Deconstruction of the remaining roof began with bays 5 and 4 (as seen in the August 15 restoration report). As of this report, bays 6 and 5 have been reconstructed with new trusses and wood decking, bay 4 remains empty, and bays 3 and 2 are in the process of deconstruction. The construction team will continue to move around the building in this process replacing two bays at a time so as not to compromise the structural integrity of the building.
Thank you for your continued support as The B&O Railroad Museum remains closed until further notice.
