Today, a major step towards completion of the Roundhouse reconstruction occurred. The construction team safely and successfully removed the cap of the lantern and set it in the Museum's back yard. A special 300 ton crane was brought in to handle the removal. With the cap removed, the construction team will be able to finish deconstructing and rebuilding the clerestory roof. Engineers will closely inspect the cap to be sure it is structurally sound before placing it back on the Roundhouse.
Thank you for your continued support as The B&O Railroad Museum remains closed until further notice.
