Dear Friends of the B&O Railroad Museum:
For the last two months, the Museum's restoration staff has been busy restoring the first damaged locomotive from the collapse. The Pere Marquette No. 11 was on track 11 during the February 2003 snowstorm. Both it and the B&O C-2222 were located on the only two tracks that allowed access to the Roundhouse, and therefore were removed as soon as possible. Please see Roundhouse Restoration Reports February 27, 2003, and March 3, 2003 for more details. For the Roundhouse Restoration Report October 3, 2003, the Museum posted the PM 11's preliminary damage report.
To help pay for the cost of the PM 11's restoration, the Pere Marquette Historical Society will be donating a limited number of copies of Pere Marquette Passenger Car Pictorial to the Museum. These books will be available through the Museum's store and online once the Museum reopens in November 2004. All proceeds from the sale will be used to defer the PM 11's restoration costs. The Museum is grateful to the officers of the Pere Marquette Historical Society and their national membership for their generous offer.
Thank you for your continued support as The B&O Railroad Museum remains closed until further notice.
