  • Maryland Zoo in Baltimore
    April 1, 2008 - May 31, 2008

    All B&O Members will receive free admission during April and May 2008 at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore.

    B&O Membership Card must be shown at entrance.

     
  • Ball Watch Company Museum Tour
    Thursday, May 15, 2008
    6:00 to 8:00 pm

    The B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore will be holding a wine and cheese reception introducing the first and only presentation of the Ball Watch Company Museum Tour in Baltimore. Come and see a display of historic Ball watches, including watches from the personal collection of founder Webb C. Ball, plus some exemplary examples of the modern Ball Watch. Exhibits on timekeeping from the archival and object collections of the B&O Railroad Museum and the National Watch and Clock Museum will also be on display.

    Tickets:
    $15.00 per person for the general public
    $10.00 per person for B&O Railroad Museum members

  • Memorial Day Weekend at the B&O -
    Celebrate Passenger Travel on the B&O
    Saturday, May 24 & Sunday, May 25, 2008
    Saturday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
    Sunday, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

    Learn how the B&O changed the way Americans traveled. Relive the experience of the first passengers on the B&O by taking a modern train ride and learn how passenger service evolved. Programs will focus on early 19th century rail travel through the mid-20th century and include some of the B&O's well-known passenger trains such as the Royal Blue, Capital Limited, and Cincinnatian.
    Please note: The Museum is closed on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, 2007.

  • B&O Railroad Museum Unveils Restored All American Locomotive
    Saturday June 28, 2008
    10:00 AM

    The restored diesel locomotive (GP38-2), CSX No. 9699, formerly Baltimore & Ohio 3802, will be unveiled to the public in the Museum’s National Historic Roundhouse to its 1982 appearance when Trains Magazine designated it the “All American Locomotive.”

    B&O Railroad Museum members will be invited to a special preview of the restored locomotive from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM.

    Ride behind the St. Elizabeth, a 1950 Porter built-saddle tank steam Engine. Programs and demonstrations highlight steam power and celebrate the Museum's historic steam engine collection, which includes icons such as the oldest operating steam locomotive William Mason, The Tom Thumb, and Lafayette.

    Salute the military and veterans at the B&O! Join us for special living history presentations by members of the 4th Infantry Division Military Police Unit and on our WWII Troop Sleeper. Vintage military vehicles will also be on display.

    Sunday, November 30, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

    Holiday celebration of toy trains and model railroading layouts beginning with the arrival of Santa by locomotive on Friday, November 28, 2007. The festival features many different layouts including the Museum’s “HO” model train layout in the C&O #725 passenger car and the outdoor “G” scale layout. Children can visit with Santa on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the Festival.
    Please note: The Museum is closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
