Gear up for back to school with the B&O!

From August 22 through August 26, we’ll be offering various workshops and tours for kids to explore and learn before heading back to school this fall. See more from the week’s schedule below.

Note: all workshops are one hour and tours are 30 minutes.


Maryland History Workshop

Monday, August 22 at 11 AM
Students will learn about the invention of the telegraph and recreate the device to practice Morse code communication. Workshop duration is 1 hour.

B&O Goes Bananas Junior Tour  

Tuesday, August 23 at 10:30 AM
Students will learn about the way freight transportation has changed from the 1800s to now by reliving the journey of a banana.

Environmental Impact Junior Tour

Thursday, August 25 at 10:30 AM  
Students will learn about the railroad’s impact on our environment and discover how the industry has changed to promote eco-friendly travel.  

Included with Admission. B&O Members FREE.


PVC Freight Challenge Workshop

Friday, August 26 at 1 PM  
Students will use their STEM knowledge to create a working freight car out of the provided materials.
