Sensory-Friendly Camp at the B&O is back!

We are expanding our program in 2023 to include more opportunities for neurodiverse children to experience summer camp at the B&O! All four weeks of summer camp will have trained counselors and aids dedicated to providing hands-on, engaging activities that allow campers to have fun while also considering their sensory needs.

  • Camp will be facilitated by professionals in the Special Education field: two lead counselors and three aides each week.
  • Campers requiring a 1:1 aide in the classroom will also require a 1:1 aide in camp. The Museum will have three aides to be used as 1:1 aides each week of camp.

Using the experiences available here at the Museum (tours, train rides, stables, restoration facility, children’s library) and hands-on science, art, and engineering projects, campers will learn the history, science, and engineering of the railroad.

I love that the museum is what remains of the old train yard and the number and variety of train cars is remarkable.
