BALTIMORE, MD – B&O Railroad Museum Executive Director Kris Hoellen has been awarded a Gold Stevie® Award for Women of the Year in the Non-Profit category and a Silver Stevie® Award in the Female Executive of the Year – Non-Profit category in the 21st annual Stevie® Awards for Women in Business.

The Stevie Awards for Women in Business honor the achievements of women executives, entrepreneurs, employees, and the companies they run– worldwide. The Stevie Award has been hailed as the world’s premier business award.

Under Kris’ leadership, the B & O Railroad Museum has launched numerous programs that have substantially impacted the Baltimore community. For example, the Museum launched an innovative workforce development program in partnership with the Community College of Baltimore County whereby the Museum’s campus serves as a school for the under-employed. Additionally, the Museum established a robust sensory program for neurodivergent children that includes free Sensory Summer Camp programs. The National Park Service recently designated the Museum as a National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom site and the Museum is presently planning for the 200th anniversary celebration of the American railroad in 2027 as well as preparing for a major campus transformation.

“I’m deeply honored to receive this prestigious award and grateful to the Stevie® Organization for this recognition,” said Kris Hoellen, Executive Director of the B&O Railroad Museum. “It is a great testament to the Museum’s work and raises our visibility as we prepare for the 200th anniversary of the American railroad in 2027, of which Baltimore is the birthplace.”

More than 1,500 entries from organizations and individuals in 36 nations and territories were submitted this year for consideration in more than 100 categories, including Executive of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Company of the Year, Startup of the Year, Women Helping Women, and Women Run Workplace of the Year.

Gold, Silver, and Bronze Stevie Award winners were determined by the average scores of more than 200 business professionals from around the world, working on seven juries.

Maggie Miller, president of the Stevie Awards, said, “In its 21st year, the Stevie Awards for Women in Business received an outstanding body of nominations. We are gratified by how meaningful it is to women to win a Stevie Award, and how impactful it can be on the futures of their careers and their organizations. We congratulate all of this year’s Grand, Gold, Silver, and Bronze Stevie Award winners for their achievements.”

Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word for “crowned,” the awards were presented to winners at a gala event attended by the nominees and their guests at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. The event was broadcast via Vimeo.
