We’re transforming the Museum into a Winter Wonderland! Hop into our Holiday Festival of Trains, packed with festive fun and merry traditions, both new and old. There will be something to do for kids from 1 to 92! Greet the season this year and begin a family tradition for many more to come.

* Please note: The Museum will be closed December 24 & 25 for Christmas Eve & Day and January 1 for New Year’s Day.
** The Museum will close at 3 PM on Fridays, December 1, 8, & 15 and Monday, December 18 & Tuesday, December 19.

Daytime Reindeer Railway Train Rides

Get festive on the first mile! This holiday season, you can take a daytime holiday train ride along the nation’s first mile of commercial railroad. The train will be all decked out for the season!  

Dates & Times:
Nov. 30 & Dec. 7, 14, 21, 22 & 26-29 @ 11:30 AM
Dec. 23 & 30 @ 11:30 AM & 1 PM
Dec. 31 @ 11 AM & 1 PM

Train Rides not included with admission. Train Ride tickets can be purchased on-site on the day of your visit.

Photos with Santa Claus

No holiday season is complete until you’ve taken photos with Santa! As part of Holiday Festival of Trains, visitors will have the opportunity to take a photo with Santa Claus on select dates.

Santa’s Winter Village

Nestled in the B&O’s spacious Roundhouse, Santa’s Winter Village is a holiday wonderland with lots of festive fun for your little ones! Santa’s Winter Village visitors will get to write letters to Santa, color wooden train ornaments, build a snowman figurine, and more!

Holiday Model Layouts

This year, Holiday Festival of Trains will feature custom model train layouts! 

Joining us through December 31 will be a special layout by Baltimore Area N-Trak! Be sure to visit them in the North Car Shop during your visit.

Enjoy the classic holiday tradition of model trains by coming to see our festive O Scale layout in the Roundhouse, as well our Bank of America Model Train Gallery, G Scale Outdoor Train Garden, or HO Scale model layout.

Santa Sleigh Ride

While you’re here, don’t miss hopping aboard the Santa Sleigh Ride! Located in the backyard of the Museum, visitors can purchase ride tickets at Admissions.

The roundhouse was my favorite part, because it gives a true feel for what goes on in a roundhouse—the cars are stationary, but seeing the actual tracks is eye-opening.
