For small homeschool groups or individual homeschool families, we offer special Homeschool Days throughout the school year.*
Throughout the day, engage in educational programing focused on history with activities including story time, tours, and workshops. Homeschool Days are special days for homeschool students to experience field trips at the B&O!
Lunch options for Homeschool Day are available at the B&O Café by pre-order or walk-in.
*Pre-registration required. FREE for Maryland Students. $18 for Non-Maryland Students. $10 per adult.
All children must be accompanied by an adult.

10:30 to 11AM | Tour | Technology Changes: Innovations in Locomotive Design Tour | In this workshop, students will get hands on learning about different train cars and what they might carry. 2 to 2:30PM | Workshop | Artifact Exploration: Life During the Civil War Workshop | In this workshop, student will examine a set of artifacts to learn how different branches of the population, including soldiers, postal workers, children, freedom seekers and abolitionists interacted with each other and the railroad during the Civil War Era. | Grades 4+ | Education Station |
2:30 to 3 PM | Tour | Civil War: The War Came By Train Tour | On this tour we will use our historic Civil War Era collection of rolling stock to uncover the story behind the first-time trains were used in warfare: the American Civil War. | Grades 4+ | Roundhouse Info Desk |
Mile One Express Train Ride
Train rides on the Mile One Express may be purchased on-site for an additional cost. Train Ride departs from Platform 2 at 11:30 AM on October 2.
