The Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association | B&O Railroad Museum

Art in Motion

Experience art in motion as we welcome the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association (MAPAPA) for a vibrant week of live painting.

Watch creativity unfold in real time as talented artists set up their easels and bring landscapes to life right before your eyes. Visitors are invited to stroll through the grounds, chat with the painters, and gain a behind-the-scenes look at their process throughout the day.

The week culminates on Sunday, May 24, at 1 PM with a special unveiling of the completed works. Select pieces will be available for purchase in the Museum Store—offering a unique chance to take home an original, locally inspired work of art.

Whether you’re an aspiring artist or simply curious, this is a wonderful opportunity to connect with the creative community and discover how you can become part of Maryland’s thriving art scene.

About the Artists:

The Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association (MAPAPA) is dedicated to promoting the discipline of painting outdoors, as opposed to a studio, which is also known as plein air painting. They have been creating since 2003 and have played a major role in creating the painting competition “Paint Annapolis.” To learn more about them and their work, click here
