Join the Museum’s education team as we tour our latest exhibit, The Underground Railroad: Freedom Seekers on the B&O Railroad

Immerse yourself in the remarkable journeys of determination and resilience inside of the Museum’s latest exhibit, The Underground Railroad: Freedom Seekers on the B&O Railroad. Discover and learn about the lives and journeys of 27 individuals who sought freedom from slavery and the B&O Railroad’s connection to the Underground Railroad.

This captivating tour led by our education team will take you through the historic Mt. Clare Station – a national Underground Network to Freedom Site and the exact location through which eight Freedom Seekers, including Henry “Box” Brown and William and Ellen Craft, traveled. The exhibit also examines the Black travel experience during this time and includes an immersive 180-degree multimedia experience and a new recording of Henry “Box” Brown’s own song produced in collaboration with the Howard University Department of Music.

The Underground Railroad exhibit particularly made an impression. You can learn about the enslaved people who passed through Mount Clare Station as their last stop before reaching the northern states. Sobering and inspiring stories.
