Volunteer Exploration Days | B&O Railroad Museum

Looking for a fun and novel place to volunteer in your free time?

Maybe you’re a railroad enthusiast, or perhaps you just like history of all kinds.  

Join us at the Museum for one of our Volunteer Exploration Days. Learn about the volunteer program here at the B&O, discover volunteer opportunities, meet with current volunteers and see what it’s like giving tours, operating railroad equipment, and more. 

This event is free with advance registration.

Schedule: 

  • 11:30 AM: Check-in 
  • 12 PM: Turntable Demo 
  • 12:30 – 1:15 PM: Tour w/ a docent 
  • 1 – 2 PM: Meet & Greet w/ Volunteer Model Train Curator and Rail Ops

The Underground Railroad exhibit particularly made an impression. You can learn about the enslaved people who passed through Mount Clare Station as their last stop before reaching the northern states. Sobering and inspiring stories.
