Special Events Volunteering

Interested in volunteering but not able to make a long-term commitment? We still need you!

The National Museum of Railroad History & Innovation hosts a handful of fun events throughout the year that attract many visitors. These events are perfect for volunteering with a friend, a child/grandchild (14+ with a parent/guardian), as a group, or to knock out those remaining community service hours before graduation.

Volunteer assignments for each event vary, but may include:

Greeting and checking in guests
Running the kids craft & activities tables
Facilitating kid activities (yard games, moon bounce, etc.)
Helping direct special photo lines for pictures with the likes of Thomas the Train, Sir Topham Hatt, Santa Claus, and more
Helping guests board and exit trains
Assisting guests at the information desk
