The Polar Express™ Celebrates 20 Years of Holiday Magic at the B&O Railroad Museum

Experience the Wonder of Christmas with the Iconic Holiday Train Adventure Followed by a Visit to the North Pole

Baltimore, MD–The beloved holiday tradition, The Polar Express™, will celebrate its 20th anniversary at the B & O Railroad Museum from November 29-30 and December 1, 6-8, 12-15, 18-22. The experience, based on the book and movie of the same title, allows guests of all ages to embark on a magical train journey to the North Pole.

“We’ve added our own special touches to this delightful holiday tradition which is our favorite time of year at the B&O,” said Kris Hoellen, executive director of the B & O Railroad Museum. “In addition to an entertaining train ride where the story truly comes to life, we have transformed our Roundhouse into the North Pole where guests can mingle with dancing elves, marvel at our 35 foot Christmas tree, take pictures with Polar Bears, meet Santa to share wish lists and take pictures with a professional photographer, and indulge in the joy and wonder of the season.”

An Immersive Holiday Experience for All Ages

Families and friends are encouraged to wear their favorite pajamas, just like the boy in the story, and settle in for a magical trip full of music, treats, and holiday delights.

Highlights of the experience include:

  • A Pre-Departure Dance Party: TK the DJ will get everyone into the holiday spirit through festive music and dance fun.
  • The Polar Express™ Train Ride: Travelers will take a magical train ride to the North Pole filled with live performances and visits from the conductor, hobo, and Santa himself where all guests who believe will receive the first gift of Christmas.
  • Hot Cocoa and Cookies: Guests will sip warm cocoa served by singing and dancing chefs and nibble on freshly baked cookies.
  • Storytelling & Music: All will sing along with classic Christmas carols and listen to a reading of The Polar Express story, bringing the tale to life.
  • A Visit to the North Pole: Upon disembarking from the train, guests will be greeted by dancing elves in a snowy North Pole. Here both the young and young at heart can enjoy holiday crafts, take a picture with Santa, ride Santa’s sleigh, and relish s’mores by the firepit or more substantial food offerings from the Candy Cane Cafe.
