Gear up for back to school with the B&O!

From August 21 through August 25, 2023, we’ll be offering various workshops and tours for kids to explore and learn before heading back to school this fall. See more from the week’s schedule below.

Note: all workshops are one hour and tours are 30 minutes.

Mile One Express Train Rides will be available Thursday, August 24 & Friday, August 25 @ 11:30 AM. All Aboard!

“Railroad Signs and Signals: The Evolution of Visual Communication on the Railroad” Tour

Monday, August 21, 2023 @ 11 AM

Students will learn about the ways in which the B&O Railroad has ensured the safety of its passengers and employers using historic signs and signaling devices.

Visiting teachers will have the opportunity to speak with the B&O’s education team regarding field trip opportunities, available funding, and other resources.

Students will learn about the technology that allows high-speed trains to run – magnetic levitation.

“Civil War: The War Came By Train” Tour

Friday, August 25 @ 1 PM

In this tour, students will discover the connections between the B&O Railroad and the Civil War by exploring the Museum’s collection of Civil War Era rolling stock.
