Throughout the day, we’re offering highly engaging educational programming focused on history — just for homeschool students! Student activities include story time, tours, and workshops.
Pre-registration required. FREE for Maryland Students. $17 for Non-Maryland Students. $10 per adult.

10:30 to 11AM | Workshop | Design a Safe Community Workshop | In this workshop, students will discover what a community needs to keep its residents safe. They will get to design a community using 2D and 3D objects with safety is mind. Participants will need to make sure to include fire stations, hospitals, schools, and all the safe road and railroad signs they think their community needs. | Grades PreK-3 | Education Station |

1 to 1:30PM | Tour | Fueling America’s Railroads: The Evolution of Fuel Type on the Railroad | In this tour, we will trace evolution of fuel types on the railroad over the past 200 years of B&O history and the impact of each on the environment. | Grades 3+ | Roundhouse Info Desk |
2 to 2:30PM | Tour | Underground Railroad | This tour will highlight the routes of freedom seekers who have interacted with the B&O Railroad on their journey to freedom, like Henry Box Brown and William & Ellen Craft. | Grades 4+ | Roundhouse Info Desk |
2:30 to 3 PM | Workshop | Carbon Life Cycle | In this workshop, participants will assume the roll of a carbon atom and travel through its life cycle to learn about its impact on our environment. | Grades 2+ | Education Station |
