Celebrate the Holidays with a Festival of Trains!  

What better way for the B&O to celebrate the holidays than with trains! On select days November through December, come to the Museum from 10 am to 4 pm to see festive model train layouts, enjoy the holiday decor, participate in holiday crafts, get photos with Santa, take a ride on the Reindeer Railway, and so much more!  

* The Museum will open late at 11 am on Nov. 30. It will close at 3 pm on Dec. 19 & 22. It will close at 1:30 pm on Dec. 23.
Please note: The Museum will be closed Thursday, November 27, for Thanksgiving, December 24 & 25 for Christmas Eve & Day, and January 1 for New Year’s Day.

Reindeer Railway Train Rides

Get festive on the first mile! This holiday season, you can take a holiday train ride along the nation’s first mile of commercial railroad. The train will be all decked out for the season. All passengers will receive a sweet treat, and children will receive reindeer antlers!

  • December 12 @ 11:30 am 
  • December 26 @ 11:30 am & 1 pm 
  • December 28 @ 11:30 am & 12:30 pm 
  • December 27 & 29 @ 11:30 am & 7 pm 
  • December 31 @ 11 am & 1 pm 

Train Rides not included with admission. Train Ride tickets can be purchased on-site on the day of your visit.

Photos with Santa Claus

No holiday season is complete until you’ve taken photos with Santa! As part of Holiday Festival of Trains, visitors will have the opportunity to take a photo with Santa Claus on select dates.

Santa will be here for photos November 30, December 5, 12, and the evening of December 18!

Santa’s Winter Village

Welcome to Santa’s Winter Village—where holiday magic comes to life inside the B&O’s beautiful Roundhouse! Little ones can craft, create, and celebrate with activities like letter-writing to Santa and making their very own scratch-off ornament. Plus, don’t miss our special featured craft each week:

  • November 24-26 & 30: Beaded Candy Canes & Snowflakes
  • December 1-5: Gingerbread Man Ornament 
  • December 8-12: Wooden Ornaments
  • December 15-19: Holiday Snow Globes

Holiday Model Layouts

Enjoy the classic holiday tradition of model trains by coming to see our festive O Scale layout in the Roundhouse, as well our Bank of America Model Train Gallery, G Scale Outdoor Train Garden, and HO Scale model layout.

Santa’s Sleigh Ride

While you’re here, don’t miss hopping aboard Santa’s Sleigh Ride! Located in the backyard of the Museum, visitors can purchase tickets at the ride location or Admissions. Santa’s Sleigh Ride will be open Wednesdays through Fridays from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm.


Meet Gingy from the Christmas Village!

Join us in the Roundhouse on December 5 from 10:30 am to 1 pm and meet the mascot of the Christmas Village in Baltimore presented by Chase. Be sure to check out the authentic German Christmas market November 22-December 24!
