Roaring Down the Tracks: From the Stourbridge Lion to CSX | B&O Railroad Museum

Lecture

Historian and author of the book Stourbridge Lion to the Stourbridge Line which was released this year, Beth Anne Keates is a long-time enthusiast of rail transportation. This October, she will be doing a special lecture at the Museum about the significance and history of the Stourbridge Lion and its relationship to CSX. 

This lecture will take place in the Bank of America Model Gallery.

About the Lecturer

Railroad historian Beth Anne Keates is the co-author of several books including Union Pacific Railroad Heritage (2022), Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway Heritage (2023), Viewing the Norfolk Southern Railroad (2023), and Viewing SEPTA’s Rail Heritage (2025). Her latest publication, Stourbridge Lion to the Stourbridge Line (August 2025) focuses on the history and lasting impact of the first steam locomotive tested in the United States. Outside of her research, Keates practices photography and serves as the Regent of the Lansdowne Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.
