The B&O Railroad Museum is proud to host events and activities related to our exhibit, The Underground Railroad: Freedom Seekers on the B&O Railroad throughout 2023 — with live performances, lectures, and more.
Anthony Cohen embarked on a two-month journey from Maryland to Canada in the spring of 1996 retracing the Underground Railroad, using Henry “Box” Brown’s method of shipping himself in a crate.
Join us for a performance from Baltimore songwriter and recording artist Wordsmith.
Join us in celebration of Black History Month for a free, public screening of Underground Railroad: The William Still Story.
Programs include a performance by the historic Union Baptist Church’s choir with an introduction by Reverend Montgomery, scheduled From Slavery to Civil Rights tours, and kid-focused educational activities throughout the weekend.
Acclaimed storyteller Diane Macklin will be performing a blend of American stories and traditions with African roots.
19th Century food and beverage historian, Nancy Siegel, will be leading a discussion and food tasting centered on the food that Henry “Box” Brown ate prior to, during, and after his journey on the Underground Railroad.
Chief curator Jonathan Goldman will be moderating an academic roundtable with advisors who took part in the production of our newest exhibit.
Kids can experience tours, workshops, and hands-on activities to understand the connection between the B&O Railroad and the Underground Railroad.
